Dawn of Iron Ships
Bought Dawn of Iron rules for ACW naval warfare quite a while ago so thought I would pick a battle that would give me a nice mix of ships , I chose 1/1200 scale so i could play on a 3x3 table .
So I went for the battle of Hampton Roads which gave me a mix of iron clads steam and sailing ships ,with being new to this scale and this type of warfare I ordered ships from 2 manufacuters Big Jims Prints and Langton miniatures .
Both orders arrived really quickly and both are nice quality I think Langtons win out on quality and also their ships come in little packs with all items in seperate packs inside the main pack included is a small card with the ships name and what parts should included ,they come in either resin or white metal and masts and saiks are in metal .
The Big Jims ones are all 3D printed resin they come in zip bags with no I.D of which vessel is which and the masts are still attached to the printing supports so in such a small scale finding out which ship is which and seperating the masts will be difficult for me so even though Big Jim is cheaper on most models I think any more purchases for me will be Langton .
I will most more pictures as I progress the Pics below show an example from each company as they come out of the bags .
