1066 country and more than a battlefield

Had a few days away ,based ourselves in Eastbourne but travelled around this fascinating area mainly looking at the battle of Hastings but found much more .

Our first port of call was the town of Battle ,Battle Abbey and Senlac Hill .
Battle Abbey

The battle filed has many information Boards

The Abbey Stands on the crest of the hill ,which was higher and steeper at the time

A better idea of the steepness from this angle

Most of the original Abbey is in Ruins

Zvesda Art of Tactics

With not getting to Sheffield Wargames Society this week we had  a game of Zvesda Art of Tactics ,a very good game  John picked up cheap the game is palyed with cards with the unit stas on one side and your order sheet on the other .The models move by hexes and everything is done with D6's .The game comes in different sets Battle for Moscow , Battle for the Danube etc and contains all the models ,play mats ,dice even the dry marker pens needed to play the game .Really enjoyed it and look forward to playing a more in depth game we played with just 3 tanks per side .
