02:00 Hours German Sentries

Stuck together a few of the plastic Germans ,just enough for a small game , I included the metal sentry pulling on his coat , late for duty . This was free with the preorders . Nice figures go together well my only gripe is the very small ammo pouches for the rifle armed soldiers are very fiddly but this is probably down to my huge fingers and poor eyesight . Will try and get these painted before I try the SAS . The pictures show agroup of sentries in variuos poses incluidng the metal one , a pair of feldgendarmes ,an officer and NCO and 2 dog handlers

02:00 Hours

Well after my earlier post regarding my HellBoy Kickstarter ,I had hardly stopped drooling when the postie , knocked and my 02:00 hours preorder set arrived , a quick look and I m impressed , the rule book was slightly smaller than I expected being used to the normal A4 books ,but this is well printed and looks sturdy . The plastic figures are nice made by Wargames Atlantic ,I supose the only issue is that in the expansions the plastice figures are the same as in the main set ,so are not quite what I wanted for commandoes but not a big problem really , the metal figures are very nice although mine were mispacked and I didnt get a demolition expert but got 2 downed pilots ,but an hour after my email informing them about the error I had areply saying the correct figure would be posted out and I could keep the spare pilot. Counters are good thick card stock ,will have aproper look later and get some better pictures put up , also today the Post brought me the rule book Dawn of Iron ,the ACW at Sea . from scary biscuits studio . The Big Box of Doom

As you will know I love the Hellboy board game and eagerly took part in Mantic's last Kickstarter ,which not only gave me tha massive big box of doom containing loads of figures and new missions and new or upgraded agents but also the free Hellboy Dice game ,it also gave me change to pick up some of the earlier releases I missed so grabbed the Conquerer worm expansion , Christmas Hellboy diorama and a resin Johann Krauss and a resin Nimue plus of course some add ons which consisted of the limited edition Hellboy drinking with Skeletons diorama ( 2 actually one is a present for my Pal ),a folding dice tray and probably more as I ahve not had time to look at the stuff yet . Lots of new scenarios and charecters to play and dozens of figures to paint .

Cluedo Hostage Rescue Team .

Had the pleasure of helping run Sheffield Wargames Societies participation game at a local show Chilcon. I have played the game before and it is tactical but great fun ,John Armatys has done a great job turning the classic cluedo game into a special forces rescue mission with all the characters Miss Scarlett , Reverand Green and friends being held hostage by some nasty terrorists whose first act is to execute Dr Black and leave his body as a warning on the steps to the mansion . The players take the part of the special forces team and make the plan then execute it to save the hostages ,not knowing where the hostages and terrorits are or even how many bad guys there are . The show was pretty quite but we managed to run one practice game before the show opened and then ran it three times for the public who all seemed to enjoy it , i even overheard one group saying it was the best game at the show. Games such as this can be found at Wargames Developement or along with more serious games at Sheffield Wargames Society .

Itys taken quite a while but its here at Last ,the latest version off Force on Force from Ambush Alley Games . AmbushAlley The Next War is available fromWargames Vault as a download at the moment its awork in progress but as Shawn updates orf adds things you will get free updates once you have purchsed this version . This set covers skirmish actions from the cold war period to the far future A really exciting deveopement from Peggy and Shawn .

The Morning after , another 54mm Works Drift figure

Finished this chap , another 54mm Benito He looks tired and weary after the long bloody fight around the mission staion ,his unform is ripped and dirty and he has lost or removed his gaiters ,his Martini Henry in one hand and his helmet in the other .

02-00hours scenic items and objectives

With the game due to arrive in the next few weeks I thought I would get all the scenic bits finished . All the items can obviuosly be used in any game ,these should cover alot of the scenarios in the rule book . The Chateau ,radar ,search light ,green house and aircraft plus most of the mdf are from sarissa ,the rest of the MDF is TT combat , the vehicles , ammo dumps and field command set are from Anyscale models if you game in 20mm or 28mm you need to look at Anyscales range there will be something you need. I painted the mdf aircraft in a generic dark camo without markings so it could be used by either side either to let the evil gestapo officer escape or to fly the rescued scientist out of Nazi occupied europe , the green house of course is just for the odd Para to land in . the mat is by Urbanmatz Cant wait to get these on the table and start playing the game

Fear of the Dark 2nd Edition

The 2nd Edition of Fear of the Dark is released today on Wargames vault . The rules are aimed at solo or cooperative games set in the world of Cthulu type horror ,since its initial release its author David has fully supported the game with lots of free scenarios and in fact if you purchased the first edition of the rules the 2nd is a free download as well ,if not its well worth purchasing . Also there seems to have been a lot of input from some really nice chaps mentioned inside the front cover
