Graves of the Defenders of Rorkes Drift -Windridge -Parry & Cole
Three of the defenders Sergeant Joseph Windridge (the sergeant with the muscles in the film Zulu) ,Private Samuel Parry and Private Robert Cole were all buried in Witton Cemetery in Birmingham in unmarked graves .In November 2015 the three heroes were given memorials close to their grave areas .

Concerning the 2 plaques can you confirm they are within Witton cemetery as I have been in touch with the Bereavement Officer there and am advised these plaques are NOT within the cemetery !
ReplyDeleteHi they are within the cemeteryIf you enter from the main front gate entrance, turn left towards the main Chapel on your right just before the chapel you will see some steps, the memorials are either side of the bottom step.
