BelloLudi WW1 Skirmish Rules

Getting back on my Wargaming feet after along illness and some very intense training programmes fpor work ,I have started to look at the armies I have almost finished and what I am going to do with them.So my WW1 late war Germans and Brits are almost complete and I have been reading through the Too Fat Lardies "through the mud and the Blood" which I do like the look of ,when I saw aadvertisement for a set from BelloLudi in the Netherlands so jumping in after vasking afew promptly answered questions on the face book page I ordered the starter set of rule book ,command Dice and command cards .These arrived very quickly 5 days from ordering to dropping on my door mat including a weekend at that. The rule book is a A5 soft backed setthe first 13 pages contain the introduction and main rules ,pages 14-24contain optional rules for smoke ,gas ,defences ,tanks,aircraft ,troop quality ,pretty much anything you can think of.They are nicley produced and being aimed at new players contain nice clour pics of what I call wargames standard painted armies not the wonderful works of art that most rule books contain which are above the painting skills of most of us .They are aimed at 28mm using forces of around 30 plus a side but can manage larger smaller game sizes with 2 or multi player games ,they even say solo .They contain some nice touches such as the command dice which are multi sided but only numbered 0-1-2-3 and B ,B takes you to ablunder chart which effects your orders ,the optional cards allow yoou to play havoc with your opponants army .The QRS sheet is inside the back cover but you can download a copy of this and all other useful stuff fromthe BelloLudi website ,for a set of rules I had never heard of until last week I am impressed and cant wait to try them out.

Finished a deployment point for my Jacobites for Sharpes Practice , a Crann Tara or fiery cross a call to the Clans for a meeting . A flags of war piper helps call the clans .

Royal Ecossais-

I am getting through lots of painting but to stop getting fed up ,I m picking random packs out of the lead pile ,no way to get armies painted but its more fun . `Here are the command group of the Royal Ecossais a French Regiment of mainly Scottish Volunteers who were sent to aid the Jacobites in the 1745 rebellion . Figures and Flags by Flags of war .The finished unit will be used for the Jacobite Rebellion using too fat lardies Sharp Practice.

"In addition to red coated Irish Picquets Lord John Drummond, the commander of the French Troops, also brought some 400 men of his own regiment, the Royal Ecossois. This was a Scottish unit raised in 1744, for which Drummond was given permission to raise a second battalion in Scotland. A couple of officers and some men can certainly be identified as having joined the regiment after its arrival in Scotland, but the projected second battalion never materialised. Unlike the Irish regiments there was no polite fiction that these Scots soldiers were merely 'on loan' from the British Army and consequently, instead of the full-skirted red coats worn by the Irish, the Royal Ecossois had a rather dashing blue uniform." - Stuart Reid, 'Like Hungry Wolves'

Charlie Foxtrot -Pantile Hermitage

Finished the second building ,this time a hermitage and this one was easier  to build than the first ,fitted together in a few minutes (plus drying time) so easy as everything just fits together so easily .Probably buy a lot more of these I can see a full village making an appearance .

In the past i have purchased lots of counters ,movement trays etc from Charlie Foxtrot and have sseen their buildings but thought they looked complicated,well I purchased 2 recently to use in my planned Sharps Practice games set in the peninsular .I started one last night and finished it today ,what asimple task it was ,the parts fitted together really well and following the instructions on the web site I think I made it look fairly nice . The kit is MDF and resin and includes aouple of optional bits and replacents for the fiddly mdd shutters .Will be making the second one this weekend and hopefully show them off together . 10/10

Bag the Hun -early war French V Germans

In our quest to game everything ,we dragged out Bag the Hun this week a Too Fat Lardies game we had for years but never played .Ian kindly brought his toys and mat and umpired so John and myself could learn the ropes as Ian has played many games .I took the Germans ,4 109's and 3 DO17 John had the French 3 Bloch 152's and 3 Dewptaine 520's .I was quite confident of a Luftwaffe victory but as soon as we started rolling dice I knew it would be a black day for Adolfs boys .The French smashed the Do17's with only one getting through to hit its target ,3 of the the Me109s managed to live to tell the tale but all with disasterous die rolls managed to end up with various problems all of them down to half fire ,however they did manage to claim a Bloch so just scraped a draw due to this and the bomb damage .Great game definitely up for more of this.Alltoys were Tumbling dice miniatures

95th Rifles

Another couple of test figures this time Brigade Models 95th riflemen again these will be used for Sharp Practice this time replaying the Sharpes TV series set in the peninsular ,I have the Brigade figures of Sharp ,Harper and the chosen men stored away in my lead pile .

Redcoats for the F.I.W

Got round to test painting a couple of figures from the Galloping Major Kickstarter ,2 of his lovely redcoats for the French Indian war using Shaps Practice rules ,they will also serve in the Jacobite rebellion until I get appropriate figures.

First 5 Jacobites finished ,going to make this up to unit strength for sharps practice hich will be 12 figures ,then I will work on some lowlanders and Royal eccossias.

Flags of War Jacobite Kickstarter

My stuff arrived today that I ordered through flags of wars kickstarter project ,and I am highly satisfied  . The Kick Starter was carried out as they should be lots of notifications by the KS page ,personal emails and Facebook ,delivered on time and some nice freebies. The figures are superb ,full of character and realistic poses ,Obviously a work of passion , I can't wait to start on these ,they even posted a nice painting guide to Tartan which will be handy these wil be based for Sharps Practice by Too Fat Lardies . Now I am out of work not sure if I will be able to take part in their next KS but if I can I will .10/10

tonight at Sheffield wargames society again Germans v Brits this time a Tiger and a Panzer 4 against 2 shermans and a firefly ,the germans scraped anarrow victory .We used chits instead of dice to determine initiative with wild dice being used to force the opposition to return a chit to the bag and draw again ,seemed to work and was alot quicker than dice rolling .

What a Tanker

Our first game of too fat lardies ,What a Tanker rule set tonight at Sheffield Wargames Society , and what agreat game it is ,fast , fun and easy to pick up after turn 2 we only had to look at the rule book once just using the quick play sheets for everything .We played 3 shermans against 2 Pz iv and a stug with the germans pinching a late win with 1 of the shermans brewing up and the other 2's crews fleeing the scene.
