Zona Alfa -all done

Finished all the important stuff for Zona Alfa ,well at least enough to play the game .I finished all the bits I bought from Patrick Miniatures ,with the last one being the ruined shop ,a superb model that comes with achoice of signs ,in the photo I have used the shoe store sign but it also comes withbakery and grocery store as well,the removable roof shows some shop items from a Mantic terrain crate . The other bits are also from the Terrain Crates except the swarms of rats which are from the Whizz Kids D&D range .I need to dirty up the die casts I bought for this game to appear abandoned and I will buy a few more figures and possibly another shop from Patrick , but for now all finished , now onto the next project?

finished the final figures from Patrick Miniatures ,only got the shop to finish and some swarms of rats and a few scenic bits before my first game on Sunday. The items below are more military scavenger types with a variety of weapons .The toxic pools and other bits are mainly from Mantic ,the anomolies are scratched built by myself

Zona Alfa -Project Update

Finished some more bits , some ruins from mantic and a few bits of scatter terrain again some mantic and the other bits are from TT combat .Patrick Miniatures supplied the scientists in Hazmat suits and the 2 mutants .

Zona Alfa project

Set myself a task of finishing evry thing I have for one game without doing my usual mix and match and never finishing anything completely ,so i chose Zona Alfa from osprey ,aall these first batch are from Patrick miniatures from Germany , couple of Military types and five zombie soldiers plus the Pripyat Monument

Christmas Goodies

Had a few wargaming and military inspired prezzies including another 2 of the Minden games solo games ,a Army Painter gamesmaster set for terrain contruction and a set of their new air paints ,a couple more of the Mantic terrain crates .An addition to my zulu war book collection and although slightly off the scale 3 Olivier shakespeare movies that do include some nice battle scenes.Hope you all had agreat Christmas

Zona Alpha -salvage and survival in the exclusion zone

I recenlty bought the osprey rule set ZONA ALPHA which is set in an post apocalyptic eastern europe ,where small groups hunt for items to salavge whilst facing each other, bandits ,zombies and mutants as well as radiation and other man made hazards .I purchased the add on KONTRABAND which adds a few more hazards ad scenarios as well as taking the game into acooperative or solo campaign game . The isnt a dedicated figure range to the rules ,justbuse what you have but I found afew printed ranges on the internet and ordered a few items from aGerman company called Patrick miniatures ,they make really nice stuiff and the service is excellent . Below are photos of figures covering all the main groups in the rules plus bits of scenery ,the Pripyat ghost town monument ,Pripyat was the town ,the 9th atomgrad built in 1970 to serve the Chernobyl reactor and was evacuated after the Chernobyl disaster and remains abandoned ,I also bought a soviet store ,a lovely piece that comes with a removable roof and 4 different shop signs to choose from ,really nice figures with amazing detail .

Lion Rampant-Crusader States

 I bought the Osprey Lion Rampant rule set with the aim of wargaming the crusades but they were pretty generic although seemed to be a decent game, now the University of Edinburgh have released a supplement ,Lion Rampant the Crusader states . The supplement is more than double the size of the rule book and is packed full of historical information ,new rules ,12 army lists and 12 scenarios plus its packed full of osprey colour plates and pictures of toys , maps and charts .It looks agreat addition to the rule set .

THE DECK OF CARDS

 No not the old Max Bygraves song ,although that is military in a way ,but some decks of playing cards i have had made to fit in with my card dxriven wargames ,Cornered wolf for checnya and Outremer -faith and blood ,the osprey crusade skirimish game . I have plain decks of cards but when I saw photo box had an offer on I couldnt resist , just something to make the games stand out .

Played this second solo scenario fromthe wizards conclave supplement .This time my group are fast asleep except the wizard when  a large group of night creatures attack them ,a mixed group of skeletons ,ghouls ,zombies ,ice spiders and a snow troll .Having to roll awill roll each turn to wake up my awful die rolls made sure most of my adventurers were sound asleep when the baddies arrived , dreadful encounter I took the better part of valour and teleportedmy wizard away and his followers ran in avery disorderly fashion all taking various wounds to make the next game even harder ,luckily my treasure rolls were quite good and ive got some spare cash to buy a couple of new guys.

Old Scores -A frostgrave solo scenario

Another Solo game this time using a solo scenario from the wizards conclave supplement in the Frostgrave setting. Frostgrave has many solo and co-op scenarios in this and the perilous dark books and the spell caster magazines I mentioned in an earlier post . The adventure didnt go as planned lots of bad dice rolling gave the rule generated bad guys the upper hand for most of the game ,but I managed to get away with some treasure and completing the two main objectives ,killing the snow leopard and getting away with the armour of redwar ,although I left my apprentice and 2 soldiers dead in the snow .Great fun as always . Figures mainly Northstar with a few odd ones and treasure from northstar and mantic ,mat  by Urban matz.
