October Painting Challenge -FIW update

Another part of the challenge completed ,the largest part a mix of 40  F.I.W figures for either Sharp Practice 2 or Muskets and Tomahawks 2 , all have been sat on my painting table for a while one complete unit and the others left overs from other completed sets

A group of Huron French Allies ,mainly Galloping Major with one odd Northstar

12 local militaia led by self appointed Major Disaster
Two versions of daniel hyacinthe liĆ©nard de beaujeu a Fench officer who led the troops into battle in Indian garb ,the left hand figures is from Northstar and rminds me of Charles Hawtry and will never grace my table the other is a much more impressive version from Galloping Major
Rogers and some of his Rangers

A few Brave settlers led by Reverend Mister Bligh
A lone French Militia again galloping Major

A few Mohawks a mix of Galloping Major and Conquest Miniatures before they became Warlord

Sharps Practice French Indian War

Played my first Sharps Practice game today , very easy to pick up and great fun .Ended up a draw with niether side being able to claim their objectives ,the French did really well after rolling an awful morale rating at the start of the game .The tiffin token came out early in the first two rounds which didnt help  the brits. Figures mainly Galloping Major but some conquest which I now believe belong to Warlord.Buildings 4 Ground and warbases trees and other bits from many different places including home made mat from urbanmatz
Poor French `morale roll at the start didnt look good

The BRitish Morale was much better

Rangers Deploy

The French's Indian allies deploy s

The Indians move forward to engage the rangers

First blood to Rogers Rangers

The Britiah Provincial troops arrive but alittle late

The French Marines advance

F.I.W seven day challenge (day2)

Based the Northstar Huron
Day 2 was helped by the snow every thing I had planned for this morning was called off so straight into the project. Some figures based but as I undercoat outdoors the snowthat helped today might slow up the progress over the next few days .Started painting the French but cleaning the Northstar stuff also slowed me down ,lots of flash it does come off easy but theres loads of it.
Finished (almost) the first Rangers unit, the Galloping Major figures will be all I will purchase in future ,although I sill have some conquest indians and the Last of the Mohicans pack which I will finish.
and the coureur des Bois

Started painting the Compagnies Franches de la Marine & Officer

Finished the 2 indians for the British Allies

The finished four man unit ,bases still wet and need varnish

The Rangers finished ,again wet bases and in need of varnish one figure deserted for this shot

The 6 man unit and officer
The box the northstar figures came in comes in handy for the M&T card deck (still in its own box ) and the tokens for the game.

F.I.W seven day challenge (day1)

Northstar indians and Coureur des bois
3 compleated sample ,conquest indians Galloping major Ranger.
Having a week off work and lots to do I have set myself a couple of hours a day to pianting /basing figures .I decided to get my French Indian war figures out and instatly lost heart so many in so many different states of completion .So I have got out a selection that when finished will give me a small game of Muskets and Tomahawks ,so I will post pictures every day of my progress ,this hopefully pushing me on ?. Here is the starting line up at end of day 1 ....My Target units are
1 x ranger officer
2 x 6 ranger units
1 x 4 Iroquios British allies
1 x Franches de la marine officer

Same figure the conquest are beutiful but smaller and slimmer so put them on thicker bases.
 10 x de la marines
6 x Coureur des Bois
6 x Huron french allies

if possible another ranger unit and officer and another dozen iroquios are in my collection but not needed for the game.

The conquest figures are beutiful but slimmer and smaller than the others but on thicker bases its not too noticable ,Galloping Major and Northstar are almost identicle but the majors figures are better in my opinion.
GM Rangers  blocked out colours

Conquest indians main colours blocked in

The undercoated stuff is GM the ones started  are conquest

same as above left                 MORE TOMORROW?
