Christmas Game -Rules of Engagement

Sheffield Wargames Society always have aChristmas Games day which this year started at 12.30 and continued until 8pm allowing time to undertake a bigger game or games and enjoy the supplied buffet as well .This year we played a Rules of Engagement scenario .Brits v Germans in the desert ,the game was a christmas cracker , Both sides advancing the German 222 advanced and bravely fired on the British Armour to no avail and the infantry rushing to dig in .Turn 2 saw the Brit tank return fire on the German armored car only to miss wildly ,the 222 responded and caused minor damage but this resulted in killing some of the crew and the rest bailed out and legged it , things got worse for the Brits with a well aimed burst from a HMG taking out the British HQ and the Pziv catching a section of tommies in the open ,things started to look bad for the gallent tommies . Turn 3 started with a boys anti tank rifle  taking a shot at the Pziv to no avail what so ever ,next revenge was sought with fire being trained on my Hq unit and on my HMG and my infantry on my right flank ,poor shooting and some bad dice rolls resulted on only 1 hit on my HQ unit which was deflected by a cigar case sent over for Xmas to one of the young jerries . Return fire was more accurate and the Brits reached thier break point and started to retire from the battle . Figures a mix of artizan and warlord ,vehicles a mix of s&s warlord and others,  scenery airfix and anyscale plus other oddments

On the work bench for my Cold war gone hot project ,a trio of Landies a Airfix LWB and trailer ,2 of the new S&S recce Rovers another lovely model which comes all camoed up with 3 multi part crew ,radios and HMG's and finally starting on my ruskies ,which will be a mixed bag of stuff to be used in some of the scenarios in the FOF supplement.

As I am coming to the end of my Cold War Gone hot B.A.O.R project (maybe) I thought I had better sort out what I had got so to work out what storage I need ,so I laid it all out on the living room floor and was a bit impressed so snapped some quick pics of what I have finished . I still have a box of Airfix NATO Ground Crew and 2 Airfix Harrier GR3's to do for the "Hunting the Harriers" scenario ,plus an Airfix Land rover LWB and a scorpion to start .I also have 2 Land rover Recces on the way from S&S for the Harrier game cant wait for these as they are a bit special all camoed up looking a bit mean and again Shaun has very nicely sent me them before general release will post pics as soon as possible.

After another ittle stay in hospital my lovely Elaine bought me some new toys to make me feel better a little visit to the wargames emporium saw  her come home with 9 of the new models from Ares for Wings of Glory and a couple of Airfix bits for my Force on Force B.A.O.R , also a order on its way from S&S of a ferret and a couple of Shauns lovely new FV432 with peak turret .

after a gaming free weekend looking after my 2yr old grandson ,Ive taken steady today so all you get is a picture of the Airfix kits I need to build, hopefully finish the last dozen or so metal figures and the last two resin vehicles tomorrow ,well painting at least basing will be later . Then inthe post from S&S I have three more resin vehicles and Shaun assures me that the FV432 with peak turrret is on the way soon  too ,plus a airfix order Ive put in with wargames emporium and that will be that ....maybe Shaun at S&S has also siad the FV432 withScim turrets are in the pipe line so at least 2 of those will be needed.

All a bit hurried I'm afraid will retake when based and varnished etc. The Elhiem figure in the comparison shot will be part of my RAF Regiment unit. I do have 4 FV432's at the moment the other 3 are Brittania and are still being filled and bodged as described elsewhere on this blog ,when S&S bring out the FV432 with peak my platoon HQ will have this and the 4th 432 will be transporting my Milan tams about.At the moment in my painting queue I have the above mentioned 432's ,8 NBC suited RAF Regiment(Elhiem) ,another 12 SAS (Liberation),2 Milan teams (Elhiem),2 Airfix Harriers ,Airfix Landrover ambulance , Airfix Scimitar ,A FV432 with Recoiless Rifle(Brittania) , a Abbot spg (S&S) and have just ordered from S&S a Sultan Command vehicle and 2 Spartan APC's. Will also be ordering a fv432 with peak turret from them ,hopefully a couple of FV 432's with scimitar turrets and some of the new  Elhiem BAOR figures which are due out soon ,Plus some more Airfix from the wargames emporium including the NATO ground crew ,all hopefully making a fund raising appearance for the British Legion soon.
