IDF

Finished my IDF in 15mm for Cold War Commander , a mix of battlefront and Butlers kit , a lot of the Decals that came with the Battlefront kits were rubbish and broke up so a lot were replaced with Decals from Butlers alot better to use .

More for Northern Ireland

After completing the required figures I moved on to vehicles and was looking for scenery . The vehicles I got a Humber Pig and a Saracen from Battlefield 3D both are superb ,no clean up or sanding was needed I also bough a Hotspur Land Rover from Butlers Printed models again nice but lots of sanding needed and the lines can still be seen .The crimes toppers decals came from Butlers and these are superb , I also bought a lot of decals for my 15mm IDF as the decals supplied with the battlefront models were awful . As for scenery I looked at Warbases new Table ready Scenery and orderd a single terraced house and acouple of fields and I cannot poraise these enough ,the building comes ready painted and was ultra easy to put together ,probably the easiest MDF kit I have built , it comes so you can easily detach the roof and upper floors to place figures inside and my 1st Corp figures match up nicely with the vehicles and buildings.

Irish Guards Battlegroup

After our games with Pendrakens Cold War Commander we decided to try their WW2 version Blitzkreig Commander which we tried using my korean war armies and we were sold ,so we chose late war with myself doing the British . We chose army lists to start as a base for our armies ,I chose the Irish Guards Armoured Brigade for September 1944. I have now finished my basic army but with the sad news arrowhead miniatures are closing down I have ordered quite abit of stuff so I have afew options to choose from. Battle group HQ
3rd Armoured Squadron
1st Armoured Squadron
2nd Armoured Squadron
2nd Infantry Company Group
Air Cover
Hopefully these will go into Action with the next couple of weeks ,Toys are a selection the Infantry and some Shermans are Victrix the other Shermans and most of the other vehicles and the 17pdr ATG and tank riders are Arrowhead , the reaming vehicles are either pendraken aor Butlers Printed models , the Typhoon is Butlers

Rhodesian Light Infantry and Eland 90

I finished painting my two sticks of RLI from Eureka UK ,beautiful miniatures which were a real joy to paint .The RLI were a whites only elite force that fought throughout the Rhodesiaan Bush war or Second Chimurenga or Zimbabwe war of Liberation depending whose side you were on ,they proved an hard and succesful unit seeking out and attacking the rebels from different factions not only in Rhodesia but in the many cross border actions that happened in this long conflict (1964-1979).When I saw these in the flesh (or lead) I ordered the full range so needed some support so ordered a Eland 90 from Butlers printed models ,The Eland was the South African version of the French AML .This is my first printed model and I am impressed , a bit rough on the surface but cleaned up nicely and half the price of the resin and metal versions on the market .
The printed model out of the box

a little work needed to smooth the barrel and wheels.

The Finished Eland
