Flags of War Jacobite Rebellion third Kickstarter

Just recieved my pledge for the Final Jacobite rebellion kick starter ,this one included things like artillery for both sides ,baggots Hussars ,Irish Piquets ,North British Fusiliers ,rude highlanders and other bits to compliment a fantastic range . Again really nice figures and superb service a bit sad its the end of the range but I still have lots of figures from the previous KS's to finish so maybe a good thing . I will post some pics of the figures once I get chance .

November Painting Challenge

 More figures from the lead pile this month I am aiming to finish the following :

Anglo Zulu War - 12 Naval Brigade HMS Shah =12 men plus a Gatling and 4 crew. All Empress Miniatures

French Indian War - the regulars this time = 8 french Line AW Miniatures and a officer and 8 British Line and a officer from Galloping Major

Medieval Vilagers - 6plastic figures from Fireforge Plastics - Mainly for Rangers of Shadow Deep but will fit in any crusade /war of roses type scenario 

1745 ,A few figures that were sat waiting for a while ,11 jacobites including Bonnie Prince Charlie and 8 British Line  all Flags of War

and Finally from the Hellboy Game Krampus a bit of a rareity in the fact its a multi part kit unlike all the other Hellboy game pieces ,so will need building .

Finished a deployment point for my Jacobites for Sharpes Practice , a Crann Tara or fiery cross a call to the Clans for a meeting . A flags of war piper helps call the clans .

Finished these a while ago but putting my Royal Ecossaise command away ,I realised I never put these lads on the blog ,a unit of 12 clansmen and 2 leaders 1 real and 1 fictitious .All flags of war figures to be used with the  sharp practice supplement 1745.

Royal Ecossais-

I am getting through lots of painting but to stop getting fed up ,I m picking random packs out of the lead pile ,no way to get armies painted but its more fun . `Here are the command group of the Royal Ecossais a French Regiment of mainly Scottish Volunteers who were sent to aid the Jacobites in the 1745 rebellion . Figures and Flags by Flags of war .The finished unit will be used for the Jacobite Rebellion using too fat lardies Sharp Practice.

"In addition to red coated Irish Picquets Lord John Drummond, the commander of the French Troops, also brought some 400 men of his own regiment, the Royal Ecossois. This was a Scottish unit raised in 1744, for which Drummond was given permission to raise a second battalion in Scotland. A couple of officers and some men can certainly be identified as having joined the regiment after its arrival in Scotland, but the projected second battalion never materialised. Unlike the Irish regiments there was no polite fiction that these Scots soldiers were merely 'on loan' from the British Army and consequently, instead of the full-skirted red coats worn by the Irish, the Royal Ecossois had a rather dashing blue uniform." - Stuart Reid, 'Like Hungry Wolves'

Jut recieved my kickstarter pledge from Flags of War ,this is the second kickstarter for the Jacobite Rebellion and this time gives us the British Figures ,infantry ,grenadiers ,Highlanders and Dragoons .Again lovely figures , regular updates on progress some nice freebies overall a great experience again ,looking forward to the nexy phase. 10/10

Flags of War Jacobites W.I.P first 5 finished

First 5 Jacobites finished ,going to make this up to unit strength for sharps practice hich will be 12 figures ,then I will work on some lowlanders and Royal eccossias.

Tried to give a marshy looking finish with patches of long grass and heather

Finished the painting ,just a couple of coats of satin cote then a matt coat finish and the basing to do .Really nice figures to work on ,in future I will do batches of the same background colour to speed things up .

With all the base colours in place they are already looking good , next will be a wash then the tartan and highlights and faces .

Picked 5 figures at random so I could practise with painting tartan , all charging , 2 in shirts with muskets the other 3 in shirts .The poses are excellent and even though the highlanders charging with targe and Broadsword is a bit of a myth by the time of Culloden there is evidence a lot of the rear ranks were still equiped like this so I have purchased some to give the units areal Highland look and these figures are great ,they come with seperate arms so you can give areal mixed look to the clans .I will keep aregular up date on these figures although I do plan to take my time with them and I even planned my purchases this time and have enough figures for the Sharp Practice army list for this period .

Flags of War Jacobite Kickstarter

My stuff arrived today that I ordered through flags of wars kickstarter project ,and I am highly satisfied  . The Kick Starter was carried out as they should be lots of notifications by the KS page ,personal emails and Facebook ,delivered on time and some nice freebies. The figures are superb ,full of character and realistic poses ,Obviously a work of passion , I can't wait to start on these ,they even posted a nice painting guide to Tartan which will be handy these wil be based for Sharps Practice by Too Fat Lardies . Now I am out of work not sure if I will be able to take part in their next KS but if I can I will .10/10

The Kingdom is ours -another update

I have read the rules a few times now and really like them ,plays been held up by me not having much time to paint stuff but I have all the bits and pieces needed and have just finished a couple of bits for my Tercio . I chose Prince Rupert of the Rhine as my Tercio commander ,King Charles's Nephew he had seen action in the 80 years war and was appointed General of Horse at the start of the Civil war .He was described as "tall ,handsome and of Sparkish dress" he was at first successful but was defeated at Marston Moor where his beloved dog Boy was killed ,Boy was considered a demon by the parliamentarians with claims he could become invisible and spy on enemy camps and catch bullits aimed at his master ?. After surrendering Bristol and attempting to talk his uncle into seeking peace he was dismissed .After the war he served the French and saw more action until the restoration when he became governor of windsor Castle and taking up Science  as a hobby even converting a room at Windor into a lab .
 He died in 1682. The First Regiment I have finished was by coincidence Prince Ruperts regiment ,they saw much actionespecially in the North but were wiped out at Naesby the survivors becoming part of the Garrison at Bristol with Rupert.
