Order Counters & Markers

Always being cursed by small paper and cardboard counters in my Force on Force participation games I have been looking for suitable counters that cover what I want but are not going to cost the earth ,after meeting Mick from REDVECTORS I asked if I could look at his range and between what he already had and what he made especially from my requests I have ended up with a nice set of generic counters that I can use for FOF ,available in a range of colours as can be seen I had Blue and Red sets ,if any one wants the exact sets as shown they are now stock items ,but Mick is open to people adding or changing and willing to qoute for any lettering or numbering .His website does not really go live till his company launch in November but contact him by email and he can send pics and qoutes ,He also does a nice simple and "low cost" range of MDF buildings  .

Bempton Cliffs

RAF Bempton, Centrimetric Early Warning Station, Yorkshire

RAF Bempton was originally RAF Flamborough Head, a WW2 GCI Radar Site which opened in 1940, and was disbanded in 1945. After this it became an Air Ministry Experimental Station, and was established as a CHL/CHEL Radar station in 1949. It then transferred to Fighter Command and was rebuilt under the ROTOR program as a CEW ROTOR site with an underground R1 Bunker. It remained in this guise of 146 Signals Unit till 1961 when it became a satellite of RAF Patrington (later RAF Holmpton) until final closure in 1972. The site was disposed of in the early 1980′s and has been derelict since then. The site is in a very poor condition with the underground bunker having suffered a severe fire and most of the surface buildings being in a very poor state of repair. The Guard House bungalow and emergency exit are going to be imminently demolished to seal the underground areas.
The underground R1 Operations Bunker was scheduled to be constructed in 1953 but was not fully complete until 1956, although it was equipped with a Type 80 Radar at the time of completion. The site was designated a satellite station to the nearby RAF Holmpton, which had been newly designated as a Comprehensive Radar Site with an underground R3 Bunker.
The site was also used as an experimental site for the Codenamed ‘Winkle’ High Speed Passive Radar Array – more information of which is available. The site contains very little original fittings and the layout is significantly different to plans due to the fire damage

 Today Bempton is more famous as one of the RSPB's leading nature reserves ,especially as abreeding area for puffins.

after a gaming free weekend looking after my 2yr old grandson ,Ive taken steady today so all you get is a picture of the Airfix kits I need to build, hopefully finish the last dozen or so metal figures and the last two resin vehicles tomorrow ,well painting at least basing will be later . Then inthe post from S&S I have three more resin vehicles and Shaun assures me that the FV432 with peak turrret is on the way soon  too ,plus a airfix order Ive put in with wargames emporium and that will be that ....maybe Shaun at S&S has also siad the FV432 withScim turrets are in the pipe line so at least 2 of those will be needed.

Rifle Platoon & Transport

 My progress so far , and I'm very chuffed with it. A rifle platoon ,1 of the Milan teams ,A few vehicles ,and some of the SAS stay behind teams and a RAF sectionall finished. I've put them in movement trays in an attempt to stop them getting damaged during participation games ,my 2010 Brits get chipped everygame so if this works then they will get trays as well .

All a bit hurried I'm afraid will retake when based and varnished etc. The Elhiem figure in the comparison shot will be part of my RAF Regiment unit. I do have 4 FV432's at the moment the other 3 are Brittania and are still being filled and bodged as described elsewhere on this blog ,when S&S bring out the FV432 with peak my platoon HQ will have this and the 4th 432 will be transporting my Milan tams about.At the moment in my painting queue I have the above mentioned 432's ,8 NBC suited RAF Regiment(Elhiem) ,another 12 SAS (Liberation),2 Milan teams (Elhiem),2 Airfix Harriers ,Airfix Landrover ambulance , Airfix Scimitar ,A FV432 with Recoiless Rifle(Brittania) , a Abbot spg (S&S) and have just ordered from S&S a Sultan Command vehicle and 2 Spartan APC's. Will also be ordering a fv432 with peak turret from them ,hopefully a couple of FV 432's with scimitar turrets and some of the new  Elhiem BAOR figures which are due out soon ,Plus some more Airfix from the wargames emporium including the NATO ground crew ,all hopefully making a fund raising appearance for the British Legion soon.

Well I have progressed with my 1980's BAOR figures and vehicles ,but having left my camera at my friends I cannot post any progress pics, but will do tomorrow. So some pics of the real thing that are providing some insperation to me ,the Harrier hides are hopefully going to be a part of my set up for the Harrier Hunting scenario from cold war gone hot.
