Gabbiano class corvette
My latest build from the Warlord Cruel Seas range is the Gabbiano class corvette , a wonderful anti submarine design fitted with sonar and hydraphones and could switch to electric engines when sub hunting , they were very well armed with a 3.9inch main gun , a number of AA guns and torpedo tubes and depth charge launchers which could lay down a complete circle of charges around the ship ,they stayed in service until the 1970's .I have given this the penant number c11 which was the Gabbiano which the type was named after . The model is nice made of resin and white metal so was a bit of a git to stick together and lots of delicate parts so not sure how it will stand up to wargaming , the rear crane was miscast so ended up in the wrong place slightly . The dazzle camo was copied from a photo but each ship seems to have a diffferent pattern also the pattern was different on each side ,the red and white deck stripes were for aircraft recognition .
Nice looking model, sir.
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteLate to this post I know, but what a gorgeous example of this model! So much nicer than the one on Warlord's site; you can always tell when someone is passionate about their subject and has done the research! I'm working on one now - it's also the C11! But I've gone with a curvy, 'circles-and-spots' camo pattern. A hard time getting the tones happy - yours is much better!
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrew very much appreciated ,I am sure yours will work out great
